Matt Klein wins Aug. 9 primary in Senate District 52
Governor Dayton, Dave Metzen support Klein
(MENDOTA HEIGHTS) -- Matt Klein, the DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota Senate in District 52, won the primary on Aug. 9.
Gov. Mark Dayton spoke in support of Klein at an Aug. 8 campaign gathering for Klein to celebrate and honor the work of residents throughout the district to make their neighborhoods, cities, and schools stronger.
In addition, Dave Metzen, brother of former State Senator Jim Metzen, also spoke in support of Klein.
Klein ably beat his unendorsed opponent, Todd Podgorski, 3,656 votes to 1,636 votes. Klein also garnered significantly more votes than Mark Misukanis, a Republican candidate.

Klein was raised in St. Paul. Currently, he is a school board member in Independent School District 197 and works as a physician at Hennepin County Medical Center. Klein and Kristine, his wife, have been together 24 years and have five children who attend their neighborhood public schools.
